Rheumatology

Rheumatic or musculoskeletal conditions comprise over 150 diseases and syndromes, which are usually progressive and associated with pain. Some conditions can strike during childhood or the most productive years of adulthood, and, despite improvements in therapeutic options, they can still have a dramatic impact on the patients’ quality of life.

Biological treatments, focusing on early treatment and combining disease-modifying drugs represent great advances in the field, but important clinical problems remain to be solved, such as the achievement of sustained remissions, the need for more cost effective biological treatments, and the fact that adequate treatment of some rheumatic diseases still remains a challenge.

OPIS staff is well prepared to handle the specificity of this type of trials, which can be particularly critical when involving pediatric populations.
